First to give honor: The "K" initial in my name stands for Kamstra, my maiden name. My dad, Leonard Kamstra, was always a creative artist in his own right, and I feel that any native, inborn talent must have come from him. Thanks, Dad! It has added a lovely dimension to my life.
I have been drawing and painting since my childhood on the Gulf Coast of Texas. After studying art at Abilene Christian University I lived for many years in Upstate New York. There my love of the land, sky, and sea blossomed, and landscape became my dominant genre. Since moving to Abilene, Texas, I have not only explored and painted the abundant beauty of my southwestern surroundings and many other traveling destinations but also have found joy in capturing the special qualities of still life subjects.
I am a signature member of The Center for Contemporary Arts in Abilene and a member of Plein Air New Mexico. My work is found in private collections across the U. S., Canada, and Bermuda.
